Designing SFPL's New Identity

My fascination with libraries—timeless institutions that are both eternal and ever-changing—led me to explore the visual language and brand identity of the San Francisco Public Library.

This project celebrates the delightful moments we all experience in libraries and aims to extend those moments into SFPL's digital presence. By reimagining the library's brand, I sought to capture the unique way stories evolve for each reader and bring that magic into the digital realm.

Pathways of discovery

There's a unique joy in wandering between the shelves, exploring the stories that lie within.

In this design, I aimed to recreate that physical journey through a visual sequence that mimics the way we approach books in a library. From the moment we step into the library, to standing in front of the shelves, browsing through a collection, and ultimately selecting a book, the design captures and guides users through this familiar and enjoyable process.
